NATIONAL STROKE RESEARCH INSTITUTE
The NSRI is located
at the Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital in Melbourne Australia
and is
directed by Professor Geoffrey Donnan. The
NSRI has played a key role in national and international trials
of treatment for stroke which have greatly improved services and knowledge about stroke prevention and treatment. more»
Stroke is one of the leading causes of death and disability in the world, it effects approximately 48,000 Australians every year. To
address the problem of stroke across its entire spectrum, the
NSRI conducts research in the field of stroke at the highest
level in a vertically integrated fashion from divisions of basic
science, through to epidemiology and public health.
