Door to Needle Medal

To promote the concept of 'time is brain' and the timely delivery of thrombolysis in appropriate stroke patients, a door-to-needle medal is awarded to members of the Acute Stroke Team and Department of Emergency Medicine staff who achieve the most rapid treatment with rtPA of patients presenting as an Acute Stroke Page. The award was created in early 2005 and only those who achieve a time of sub one hour are candidates for the award. The record is currently held by team members who achieved the most outstanding time of 26 minutes in mid 2005.
